Film, television, gaming, music videos.
- The purpose of storyboards is to express ideas visually e.g. Images of actions/characters and sets in TV programmes, films and computer games.
- To communicate essential technical details for crew members, such as camera angles, movements and edits.
- To ease production processes and allow all crew members to have a visual representation of the finished product.
- To save time during production and ensure efficient outcomes.
This is an example of a storyboard where scenes are sketched and shows different uses of camera angels for example: long shot, medium shot and a close up shot.
Each drawing is sketched out to show you the order in which they happen, camera angles and facial expressions.
A storyboard does not have to be artistic it can be drawn with stickmen or any symbols, which gives you a clear layout of the story and what is going on.
Storyboards do not always have the be sketches they can also be cartoons including colour.
For example this storyboard includes educational purposes as they do not always have to be based on film or a production
A digital game is where you download a digital game on any software, game or add on where you can purchase and play without a physical copy. Computer game and software downloads are stored in a "digital library" where you can access on a computer or mostly any consoles such as Playstation, Xbox or mobile.
This is an example of a digital game. Here you can see all off the purchased games of an xbox and stored in the "digital library".
Digital games can be varied on ages. For example for a younger player there are digital games such as "Minecraft" and "fortnite" to play and for a older player there is "call of duty" and "GTA" depending on each age group.
Disney credited animator Webb Smith created the idea of drawing scenes on a separate sheets of paper and pinning them up on a bulletin board to tell a story in sequence called "the Storyboard.
This was one of the first storyboards that was originally created by Webb Smith. Storyboards have evolved as some may add colour and computerised animations instead of pencil sketches.
